Manor New Tech teacher Selected as Finalist for Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Contest

Sierra Pedroza, an AP Calculus and Algebra II teacher at Manor New Tech High School, was selected as one of five state finalists to represent Texas in the 2016-17 Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Contest!

Sierra qualifies to move onto the second phase of the contest where she will compete for the state winner title against four other finalists from Texas. For being a finalist, Samsung awarded Sierra a Samsung Galaxy Tab for use in her classroom.

Sierra was named a finalist because of her innovative educational ideas she submitted to Samsung. Sierra wrote a proposal for a school-wide project on designing and implementing green building practices in schools. The project also addresses the impact to a community from providing public space offerings such parks and community buildings.

Sierra holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from St. Edwards University and a Master of Education from Texas State.
