Anderson New Tech sends 23 seniors into their future

Anderson New Technology High School’s Class of 2016 graduated Thursday at the Cascade Theatre in downtown Redding. There were 23 graduates, 96 percent of whom are going on to college, school officials said. Another two students are enlisting in the military. Student speakers were Luke Ackerman, valedictorian; Patrick Griggs, co-salutatorian; Caleb Immel, co-salutatorian; Jayme Porazzo and McKenzie Hobson. This year’s graduates included several scholarship recipients: Mackenzie Occhipinti-Cangelosi, who was Shasta County’s ROP student of the year; Patrick Griggs, a recipient of both McConnell Foundation and Sierra Pacific Foundation scholarships; while several others who were awarded with Anderson Rotary and Anderson Community scholarships.
