Manor ISD is making the most of Dr. Brian Yearwood with his 25 years of experience in public education including time as a teacher and coach, an assistant principal, an elementary school principal, a middle school principal, and as an assistant superintendent. Dr. Yearwood also brings with him extensive experience in higher education where he has served as a summer program assistant director, an adjunct professor, and a professor. Dr. Yearwood received his bachelor’s degree in geology, his masters in educational administration, and his doctorate in educational leadership all from Texas Tech University.
Throughout his career, Dr. Yearwood has focused on building and supporting instructional leaders by providing professional development, through the implementation of professional learning communities, and the development of new teacher academies. He also does this through collecting and analyzing data by establishing district-wide monitoring systems and implementing data analysis days for district and campus leaders. Dr. Yearwood continues to build and support leaders by implementing instructional practices to promote literacy and college readiness including balanced literacy models, early literacy frameworks, and project-based learning, as well as through programs, such as Achieve 3000, AVID and dual credit offerings.
Dr. Yearwood looks forward to implementing the newly developed Strategic Plan for Manor ISD, and all of the positive outcomes for Manor’s students, parents, faculty, and community as a result of unified efforts that the Strategic Plan will draw out.
