Janet Flores’ career in education has led her from the classroom to the university and finally to central office administration. After graduating with an M.S. in Education from Butler University in Indianapolis (Go Dawgs!), Janet began her career at Mt. Vernon High School in Fortville, Indiana where she taught Language Arts and History to gifted students. Her next step was IUPUI, Indianapolis, where she was Assistant Director of the International Future Problem Solving Program, adjunct professor of Gifted Education and part-time Consultant for the Indiana Department of Education. After completing her M.S. in Education at Butler University, she became the Assistant Director of the Northwest Indiana Educational Service Center where she honed her curriculum and grant writing skills. In 2005, Janet became the Assistant Superintendent of Lake Ridge Schools. Not long after that, she completed her Ed. S. at Indiana State University. Janet has presented workshops on Thinking Skills, Gifted Education and various curriculum issues to audiences all over the United States and as far away as Hong Kong. Janet lives in Munster, Indiana and has a husband, five children, and two grandchildren.
