ECISD trustees could vote on approving a New Tech High School for the district in early January after learning about the proposed project at a lunch workshop meeting Thursday.
Shortly after board approval, the school would hire a principal, and open for the Fall 2011 semester, executive director for special projects Randy Talley said.
The school would focus on project-based learning in small groups, and give all students laptop computers they would be responsible for during their four years at the school.
“It’s not about what you can find by digging into a textbook, it’s about what you can do with that information,” ECISD assistant superintendent for accountability and special populations H.T. Sanchez said.
