Mayor Paul TenHaken has just promised pizza to every Terry Redlin Elementary student who has perfect attendance this year.
He announced his plans for the massive pizza party, to be held at his office, via Twitter on Friday afternoon during the second day of school for the Sioux Falls School District.
The notion comes three days after his 100-day mark as mayor, of which he’s said he’s spent time working with Superintendent Brian Maher to present a more united front with the district.
“This could get expensive,” he tweeted, with an image of a packed gymnasium at the campus.
TenHaken also surprised students Thursday at New Technology High School with an assembly to talk about the importance of community involvement and volunteerism as an integral part of growing a community, district communications specialist Ben Schumacher said.
The moment was part of the school’s kick-off for an all-school project, where students will spend time doing a variety of community service vents throughout the school year.
