Parents, Teachers meet at Belton New Tech @Waskow

April 13, 2011

The prospect of a new academic institution opening in the fall has gripped Belton residents with excitement as this will be a grand opportunity for students to be introduced to an innovative project-based learning approach.

On Tuesday, March 22 Belton New Tech High@Waskow held an informative meeting to discuss the school’s goals and to share their development plans with the parents of prospective students. This was the second meeting that BNTH@W hosted for the parents, students and other stakeholders, and they were all eager to learn as much as they could about the newest New Tech school in Texas.

There are currently seven other New Tech high schools in operation in the state of Texas. However the New Tech approach is not an experiment. It is a proven model used at sixty two public high schools across 14 states.

The meeting started at 6p.m. and fifty-five parents had arrived which was fourteen more than those that came for the first meeting.

“I am excited about this school because this new philosophy of education will better prepare our kids for work,” said Melissa Fasolino, one of the prospective parents in attendance. “I came to be informed about registration, the goals of the high school and what they hope to accomplish.”
