It’s not every day that high school students work on a project for the U.S. Library of Congress, but that’s exactly what students at New Tech Institute are doing.
New Tech is hosting their 5th annual Hoosier Veterans Consortium.
The Consortium invites veterans, from World War II through the Afghanistan and Iraq occupations, to discuss their experiences in combat.
In addition to sharing their moving stories, many veterans also bring memorabilia from their war experiences.
Students record their discussions and then transcribe the interviews and send transcripts to the veterans, as well as the Library of Congress, to be documented for posterity.
The Consortium happens Tuesday at 9:30 a.m., at the Southern Indiana Career & Technical Center, at 1901 Lynch Road, in Evansville.
