New Tech adds AP

May 17, 2011

Students at the New Tech Odessa High School will be able to use their laptops as part of advanced placement classes after all.

The school will initially offer Pre-AP classes when it welcomes freshmen and sophomores this fall and will expand to AP classes when junior and senior classes start there in 2012 and 2013.

While the New Tech model, which has been used at 62 high schools in 14 states, has always featured rigorous classes, Principal Adrian Vega said some parents were looking for the AP designation.
