Secondary students at Leadership Prep School (LPS) have settled into their new campus that officially opened after a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, August 14, 2017. The campus is uniquely designed to accommodate the school’s project-based learning model with students working together on assignments that require critical thinking, creativity, and communication. Students collaborate in shared spaces brainstorming on white boards and making presentations on large, interactive touch screen monitors linked to their devices.

“Project-based learning makes learning relevant and challenges students to master content while solving complex problems,” says LPS Superintendent Stacy Alton. “For our students, learning goes beyond simply understanding content. Rather, they are assessed on their ability to successfully apply their knowledge to solving problems, thus preparing them with the critical thinking and teamwork skills necessary to succeed in the 21st century workforce.”

Approximately 600 people attended the ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the school. During the ceremony, Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney recognized Monday, August 14, 2017 as “Leadership Prep School Frisco Day.” Additionally, representatives from the offices of U.S. Congressman Sam Johnson, U.S. Congressman Michael Burgess, Texas State Senator Jane Nelson, Texas State Senator Van Taylor, Texas State Representative Pat Fallon, and Texas State Representative Justin Holland, as well as Frisco Chamber of Commerce President Tony Felkerparticipated in the program.

The secondary campus serves 580 students, and 500 students in grades K-4 attend LPS’ primary campus next door to the new building.
